Vidhan.AI ("we", "us") provides legal-reasoning tools for lawyers. This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use our website at vidhan.ai — including the Legal Research Time Audit and the founding-user application — and, briefly, when you sign in to use the product. It is written in plain language and is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Automatically, as you browse. A randomly generated visitor ID stored in a cookie, the pages you view, how you arrived (referrer and any campaign tags in the link), your device, browser, operating system, language, screen size, and an approximate location (country, region, city) derived from your IP address. See section 6 for how we handle your IP.
When you take the audit. Your answers to the audit questions, including anything you type into the free-text fields, and — if you choose — an email address you ask us to send or forward your result to.
When you apply or sign in. The details you submit in the application form — your name, email, phone number, role, firm or company, and a short description of your use case. If you sign in to the product with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
When you consent. When you tick a consent box to submit a form, we keep a record of that consent so we can demonstrate it if needed: the version of this policy (and of our Terms) you agreed to, the exact wording shown next to the box, a timestamp, a keyed (HMAC) hash of your IP address, and your browser's user-agent.
We use only first-party cookies that make the site work: one that remembers your visit (an anonymous ID), one that keeps the page you see consistent, and one that remembers your light/dark preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
We use the information above to:
We do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
When you visit, we briefly use your IP address to estimate your approximate location and to detect anonymising networks. We then store only a one-way hash of it — never your raw IP — which we use to count unique visitors and prevent abuse. In our records of consent we store a keyed (HMAC) hash instead: a one-way value computed with a secret key, which we cannot reverse to recover your IP, kept as corroborating evidence. Either way we do not keep your raw IP address, and we do not send it to any third party — location is looked up locally on our own servers.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only in limited ways:
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Records of consent are retained for as long as needed to demonstrate that consent was validly obtained. You can ask us to access or delete your personal data by writing to privacy@vidhan.ai, and you can withdraw consent at any time. We will respond within a reasonable time.
The audit and the application ask only for generic descriptions of your work. Please do not enter client names, party details, privileged or confidential matter information, or special-category personal data (such as health, biometric, or financial-account information) into any field.
By submitting any field on the site, you confirm that what you have entered is not confidential or privileged and that you are entitled to share it with us. We are not responsible for confidential or privileged information that you choose to submit contrary to this request.
The site is intended for users aged 18 or older. We may update this policy from time to time; when we do, we publish it as a new version with its own effective date and keep the earlier versions available. For any privacy question, to exercise your rights, withdraw consent, or raise a grievance, contact us at privacy@vidhan.ai.
